Dr Peter Pichler is a Postdoctoreal Researcher at the University of Graz, where he leads the research project “Breaking the law…?! Norm-Related Sonic Knowledge in Heavy Metal Culture. Graz and Styria since 1980”. He studied history, media studies, and philosophy in Graz and Mainz. His fields of expertise are European Union cultural history, metal music studies, and historical theory.
He has published four books in this regard: Acht Geschichten über die Integrationsgeschichte. Zur Grundlegung der Geschichte der europäischen Integration als ein episodisches historiographisches Erzählen (Innsbruck, 2011); Leben und Tod in der Europäischen Union (Innsbruck, 2014); EUropa. Was die Europäische Union ist, was sie nicht ist und was sie einmal werden könnte (Graz, 2016); Zeitgeschichte als Lebensgeschichte. Überlegungen zu einer aktuellen und emanzipativen Zeithistoriographie (Frankfurt/M., 2017).
